Yarn number is a measure of the fineness or size of a yarn expressed either as mass per unit length or length per unit. Yarn Count and Yarn Size are synonymous with Yarn are two systems of expressing yarn number or yarn count. Direct yarn numbering system (mass/unit length) Indirect yarn numbering system (length/unit mass). 6. Implementation of the Tex Yarn Numbering System In Table 2, to encourage the implementation of the tex system in the United States, rounded tex values were chosen to accommodate as many yarn numbers as possible for the traditional yarn numbering systems without encroaching on established tolerances. In addition to the rounded tex system.

8. Fiberglass System The count of yarn in fiberglass system is the no. of cuts or hanks each of yards weight in one pound. Length of yarn in Yards Fiberglass System = Weight of yarn in lb. X 9. Tex count system (gK) The Tex count of the yarn is the no. of gms. In mts. It is a Direct System of Yarn numbering. The tex system relates to the property commonly associated with coarseness, or inverse fineness of a yarn because the tex numbers increase with an increase in the size or mass per unit length of the yarn.

The tex system is intended for use by all branches of the textile industry, in all countries, for yarns made from all types of fibers or mixtures of fibers. The tex system has not been universally accepted, particularly for spun yarns, and on the continent of Europe the metric system is used for these yarns.

In this book, common commercial practice has been followed, with decitex being used for filament yarn counts and the metric system for spun staple yarn counts. Buy JIS L Designation Of Yarns By Tex System from SAI Global.

use of the tex universal yarn numbering system. The designation of a numbering system, for example, cotton count, woolen run, and linen lea, does not restrict the yarn composition to the named fiber. See Example 5. The terms used to designate different yarn numbering systems are frequently abbreviated.

See Swicofil indicates the counts of their yarns by means of the Tex-System. TEX UNITS Term. Definition. Basic Tex Unit [tex] Mass of yarn in grams per 1' meters length. Decimal fraction. Mass of yarn in grams per 10' meters length. Decitex [dtex] 1 tex system applied to yarn designation.

book / 10'm = 1/10tex. Decitex is the count grading for filament and spinning yarns recognized. Glass fiber yarns are typically identified by either an inch-pound based system (U.S.

customary system) or a TEX/metric system (based on the SI*/metric system). This section gives a brief description of glass fiber yarn nomenclature, including comparisons of the two systems (see table on page 4). Tex system can be used from fiber to yarn process.

For fineness of cord, wire, ropes and sliver etc. are expressed in terms of kilotex that is the weight of the material in kg in one km length but for the fineness of fiber it can be expressed in terms of millitex that is weight of fiber in mg (milligrams) in one km (kilometer) length.

Textile - Textile - Classification based on use: Almost any textile yarn can be used to produce such interlaced fabrics as woven and knitted types. In weaving, the warp, or lengthwise, yarns are subjected to greater stress and are usually stronger, smoother, and more even and have tighter twist than the weft, or crosswise, yarns.

A sizing (stiffening) material such as starch may be applied to. For yarn products, after sizing is applied, filaments are gathered into strands and wound into intermediate (forming) packages for processing. or a TEX/metric system (based on the SI*/metric system).

This section gives a brief description of glass fiber yarn nomenclature, the SI designation for H filament size has been shown as Yarn Conversion Calculator.

In Tex, Denier, Decitex, Linen, Hemp, Jute, Woollen (Aberdeen) and Woollen (US grain); the higher the number the thicker the yarn.

For all other counts, the higher the number the thinner the yarn. Specifies a system of designating textile glass yarns based on their linear density expressed in the Tex System. The designation of a yarn consists of following elements: Type of glass used; type of yarn (continous or staple fiber); nominal diameter of fiber; linear.

For textile yarns, the most commonly used system should be the SI tex system, where the tex shows the weight in grams of 1 km of yarn: [] 1 tex = 1 g 1 km For yarns in fine medical and clothing applications, fineness definition in dtex can be found (1dtex = tex); at the other end of the spectrum – e.g.

for thick ropes – fineness is. Thread size numbering can be explained utilizing several numbering systems, all of which are classified as either Direct or Indirect Count Systems. Tex and Denier would fall under the Direct system (weight of a fixed length), and Cotton Count the Indirect System (length of a fixed weight).

In the apparel and textile industry, yarns are basic raw materials. Yarn thickness is measured using various systems. We use different units for yarn count - like Cotton Count, Tex or Denier. But when it comes to explain what exactly cotton count means or how Tex of a yarn is calculated, it is little tricky to explain to others.

Yarn spinning is the process of manufacturing yarn from different types of fibres into a continuous length from one or more type of fibers.

Spinning is the most important and the initial step in fabric manufacturing. The major goals of spinning is to produce the quality yarn from raw material, then remove the process faults followed by winding the short length bobbins on Cones.

The single-to-ply notation is prescribed for yarns numbered in both direct and indirect yarn numbering systems and conforms with current usage in large sections of the textile industry.

The ply-to-single notation is prescribed for yarns numbered in a direct yarn numbering system and its use is approved by the ISO/TC 38 in Document N Various units are used to refer to the measurement of a fiber, such as: the denier and tex (linear mass density of fibers), super S (fineness of wool fiber), worsted count, woolen count, linen count (wet spun) (or Number English (Ne)), cotton count (or Number English (Ne)), Number metric (Nm) and yield (the reciprocal of denier and tex).

Textile - Textile - Textile finishing processes: The term finishing includes all the mechanical and chemical processes employed commercially to improve the acceptability of the product, except those procedures directly concerned with colouring.

The objective of the various finishing processes is to make fabric from the loom or knitting frame more acceptable to the consumer.

We will discuss it under Direct system. Direct System In this system, the count of yarn expresses the no of weight units in one length unit. Higher the count, coarser the yarn.

This system is generally used for Man made fibre, jute, silk etc. Tensile test of pure, one-layer conductive coated, one-layer protective coated, and two-layers conductive coated yarn between protective coating applied (sensor yarn) were performed with MTS tensile testing device by using speed of mm/min and preload of .The third edition of Knitting Technology, widely recognised as the definitive text on the subject, has been thoroughly revised and updated to include all the latest developments.
